Lake Panorama Dog Park Project

The Lake Panorama dog park opened June 10, 2022. It is open daylight hours only, seven days a week, and is located at the corner of Sage Trail and RV Road, near the east campground. The park includes a 6’ high chain link fence 400’ long and 150’ wide. There are two sections, one for small dogs and one for large dogs. Once inside the main gate, users can choose a gate to either the large dog or small dog area.

In each section, there is a picnic table, two dog waste bag dispensers, one water bowl, and one receptacle for pet waste bags. The water bowls fill by pushing a button on the side; the water drains out over 90 seconds, to avoid standing water.

In September 2020, Friends of Lake Panorama launched a $50,000 fundraiser for a dog park. By December 1, $19,000 had been raised. By January 1, donations reached $30,000. The Friends board had set an interim goal of $25,000 raised by May 1, 2021, to ensure this would be a financially viable project. With $11,000 donated in December 2020, that goal was surpassed four months early.

Fundraising reached $45,000 by the time the 2021 Beach Ball was held. That event raised $25,000, with $5,000 of that going to the dog park to complete initial fundraising. Construction began in September 2021.

In fall 2022, $4,500 raised at the 2022 Beach Ball was used to purchase benches and trees for the dog park. Four Autumn Blaze Maples from Isom Tree Farm were purchased. Larry and Heather Isom volunteered their time to plant the trees, and will continue to keep the trees watered as needed.

Two concrete slabs have been poured, with one near each of the two sugar maple trees donated and planted in fall 2021 by the Isoms. Two of the new trees went into each side of the dog park, and are planted so the three trees on each side will form a canopy of shade as they mature. Two six-foot metal benches have been ordered, with delivery anticipated in early November. These will be bolted to the concrete slabs.
