Sunset Beach Sports Court

The Friends of Lake Panorama’s Beach Ball July 22 had a profit of $30,000. At its September 19 meeting, the Friends board earmarked $17,500 for a basketball half-court at Sunset Beach. Mark and Karen Einck donated $25,000 for the court, with another $5,500 in donations also received.

The LPA board had approved this project at its June 2021 meeting. The idea of making it possible to also play pickleball on the court was raised at an informational meeting at Sunset Beach in the summer of 2022, and was incorporated into the project. A portable pickleball net on wheels will be stored to one side of the court, beginning in spring 2023.

Construction began in late October, when a concrete pad 40-feet-wide and 60-feet long was installed. Sport Construction Midwest employees next installed a Goalsetter MVP hoop, placed sports court tiles on the concrete, and painted lines for both basketball and pickleball. An eight-foot high fence and one gate finished off this project, which was completed in late November. A sign recognizing all donors of $500 or more has been installed.
